PhD course in Theory and Numerical Simulation of the Condensed Matter.
In the framework of the agreement signed with Chiesi Farmaceutici, National Research Council and SISSA - International School for Advanced Studies announces a selection for the conferment of a fellowship to follow a PhD course.
The title of the project is “Modeling and simulation of fluid-particle interaction in multi-phase systems out of equilibrium”.
Description:
Multi-phase flow simulations, where fluids transport dispersed solid particles, are fundamental for the understanding, designing and optimization of state-of-the-art industrial applications and products. The aim of the thesis is to exploit coupled computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and discrete element method (DEM) to unravel the physics of dispersion/aerosolization of powders in confined geometries. Part of the research activity, coordinated in collaboration with Chiesi Farmaceutici, could be directly carried out at their R&D Labs.
During the three-year course the PhD student will be assisted also by a Company Tutor.
